AN OUT-WORLD MEETING PLACE FOR MEMBERS OF SECOND LIFE ENGLISH

Hi ... I am trying to use a Visa credit card to buy $Lindens ... this same credit card was used to buy a Pro FLickr account and to make continuous purchases at iTunes, blog and moodle hosting, etc. But for some reason SL's authentication process denies returns "not authorized" when I try to update my account ... so then I thought .. OK, I will just set up a PayPal account and go that route .. so I did .. and the PayPal account was registered with my Visa credit card .. and the account was approved and everything .... then, I go back to SL and try to buy lindens with my fully approved PayPal account (which authenticates your credit card as part of their process) .... so anyway .. the transaction initiated via the SL account page where you buy lindens also rejected my PayPal purchase.

I live in Mexico ... is this a problem? Has anyone else had similar issues? Linden Labs says that my bank rejected the payment request not them ... and my bank says that they thoroughly reviewed all payment requests rejections .. and nothing has ever been rejected by them. So each party says that the other party is the culprit .. and therefor nothing is getting resolved.

Why is it so darn hard to buy 25USD of Lindens I ask? hahaha

Hi Salty,

I often have a "bank rejected the payment request" error when trying to purchase a large amount of Lindens - for example when paying the monthly SIM fee. If I try to purchase the total amount on the 15th or 16th (days when my credit card resets its "status", so money should be available), it frequently rejects the request. However, I am then able to request the same total amount in smaller sums, e.g. 30,000 + 60,000, etc. - or not, in which case I simply have to wait a day or so and try again. I realize this does not totally relate to your recent experience - just thought I'd let you know it's been quirky for me, too. Did someone from LL contact you or was it the other way around? They contact me each time a transaction fails.

[RESOLVED] Payment Issues with Global Collect

[Resolved 04:34am PDT] The problem has been fixed. If you tried to change your payment information during the outage, you might have to re-enter your information.

We are currently having a reoccurance of problems connecting to Global Collect. This can cause updates to credit card info to not go through and some payments to fail. We will update as soon as we have more information or the problem has been rectified.

Thanks Kip .. they still refuse my payments and also refuse a response. So I will just give up. Wondering why other web services gladly take my money, but SL and their Global Collect payment processing service do not. But I don't care anymore ... don't need to spend anymore money anyway .. I guess I should actually thank them.

Still Baffled in Mexico

Hey!

Yw...there must be some technical glitch - can't imagine they are pleased that you have been having difficulty buying Lindens. Hope things work out for you if/when you do decide to buy some Lindens in the future.

Question: You're in-world with a paid account, are you not?

I finally got a response from SL .. they said that they had temporarily suspended my payment method (although they never said why it had been placed on temporary suspension) ... they have now removed the suspension and now it seems that purchase request will be processed as they normally should. It took a month to get that resolved unfortunately. The funny thing is that I have never used or registered a credit card with SL until recently ... so why in the world would they even suspend it?

Anyway .. glad that is cleared up, even if it remains a mystery .... thanks all!
