I second Abraxas's sentiment... On a more general note: we tend to forget that practically each resident actually sees the world differently. There are so many variables involved: his/her hardware (esp. graphics card), software (esp. operating system and SL viewer), internet connection (like in this example), SL settings, and many more. So: when we have the urge to declare "SL IS like this or that", we should think twice. My best example relates nicely to the sad pictures of Sep 19th, which Kip posted: I've often been rambling publicly about how immersed I am in SL, hoe beautiful it is, etc... Well: without DSL I would never have become immersed, of course, and SL is hardly at all nice on a modem... Not to mention the problems with locomotion and other functionalities I take for granted at 10 Mb/sec... :-)
