>perhaps a workshop is needed for this... Shall I schedule one? Lots of very interesting info in your recent blogs here, Kip. Right, I'm probably a bit narrow-sighted wrt holodecks. But ready to learn some more... Yes, I believe a workshop could ...

All that said, I can appreciate scepticism regarding the benefits of "holodeck technology". I also used to be quite critical of it - back in the days of the English Village. And regarding the cost of purchasing new scenes, yes, this is a problem. ...

Here's the direct link to the photo album called "OpenSIM". You'll find more info ab the above there. http://niflar.ning.com/photo/albums/opensim-1 PS Also regarding "conventional holodecks" (Horizons, etc.), it seems to me that their potential h...

@Wlodek Am not sure we are discussing the same thing as Dan, but regarding holodecks, just a few points: I have started drawing a distinction between the "conventional SL holodeck" and a "SIM holodeck". You'll find some screenshots + text on thi...

As SL itself is basically a simulator, seems the possibilities for "simulation" are extensive. I'd be interested in discussing this some more though - am curious what you would define as a "simulation". Seems one could categorize in-world "simulat...

Hi Dan,

Have you tried sending a group notice yet? You should be able to send them now. If you have any questions, just let me know. I tried to IM you in-world earlier but was unable to successfully log in - connection here way too slow at the moment.

Hi Dan,

Please also excuse my delayed reply. :) If you are interested in having your own launchroom (free teaching space), please just let me know. I do not design the individual spaces, apart from the initial setup. Launchroom owners are then able to add their own personal touch. We only encourage a kind of "minimalistic approach" in respect to prim use so as to avoid reaching the SIM prim limit. I'll go ahead and give you officer status so that you are able to send group notices. Feel free to contact me any time ab a launchroom or anything else. I usually am able to respond quickly - just a bit more limited lately due to an upcoming move (Germany --> Netherlands). Looking forward to your reply!

Re TeachYouTeachMe (http://www.teachyouteachme.ning.com), you're more than welcome to join it as well! It was created to help language learners partner up - a kind of buddy system. If needed/desired, I could also make it possible for you to send notices to that group.

Hi Dan!

People tend to be here, there and everywhere in SL - so many great places to explore. :) I'd be happy to send individual group notices for your students and/or make it possible for you to send notices to the Second Life English & Teach You teach Me groups yourself. I think that would be a good start. I typically send out notices for people who are looking for a teacher and/or conversation partner and ask them to let me know if they are not contacted shortly afterwards. This seems to have worked so far. What do you think? Would this help?
